Visiting the three joint sites of the Sangha Tri-National in a single trip is no longer a dream, but a reality! This becomes feasible following the signing of a memorandum of understanding by the governments of the three TNS countries (Cameroon, CAR and Congo).
Introduced in 2017 and signed in October 2019 by all parties concerned, this text defines and establishes the framework and modalities for the free movement of tourists in all three TNS parks, during a single visit to the World Heritage site. As defined by the text, tourists will be able to enjoy a tri-national touristic experience by obtaining a badge (previously signed by the Prefects/Divisional Officers of the three Departments of the TNS States Parties) and a descriptive sheet from the Conservation Services of the National Park of the State Party of entry into the TNS area.
In order to facilitate the implementation of this agreement, the different TNS actors are currently carrying several sensitization activities. On its part, FTNS through the CAWHFI project (Central African World Forest Heritage Initiative) has facilitated the production of several posters and leaflets for this purpose while awaiting a more proper awareness-raising campaign.
The TNS is a transboundary protected area shared by Cameroon (Lobéké National Park), Congo (Nouabalé Ndoki National Park) and the Central African Republic (the Dzanga Sangha protected areas). It is defined by six agreements and texts signed by the different TNS countries, whose role is to define its existence and functioning.
