It’s official! The Central African Forest Commission (COMIFAC) becomes a member of the Board of Directors of the Sangha Tri-national Trust Fund at the Board’s 23rd meeting held from 21 to 22 May 2019 in Brazzaville (Republic of Congo). This innovation is the result of a resolution adopted at the 22nd Board meeting.
Following this new status, COMIFAC, which already plays an important role in FTNS’ fund raising process, will now be able to play a more significant one in the management and administration of these funds. It is represented in its functions by its Executive Secretary, His Excellency, Mr. Raymond NDOMBA NGOYE.
The sub-regional organisation thus joins the other 10 members of FTNS’ Board of Directors (BoD) constituted of; the Government of Cameroon, the Government of Congo, the Government of CAR, the German Development Bank (KfW), the Regenwald Stiftung, the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and three other directors from local actors and the private sector.
On sidelines, the Agence Française pour le Développement (AFD) is withdrawing from the Board of Directors, a position it had held since the foundation’s creation in 2007. Represented by Mr Emmanuel FOURMANN, AFD wished the Board and the staff of the Executive Bureau all the best for the continuation of the adventure, while reassuring them of its availability for future consultations. The Agency leaves FTNS with a legacy of a financial contribution of €3 million to its investment capital.
The Board is the strategic orientation, coordination and decision-making body of FTNS. Its
main internal role is to oversee the trust fund’s technical, financial and contractual management. Board meetings are held twice a year on a rotating basis and always in the three TNS member countries. The term of office of directors is two (02) years, renewable once.
